Motive Television wins at Irish Film and Television Awards (the IFTAs)

Motive Television’s Dublin production arm has won an IFTA in the sports feature category for its documentary “Marooned” which was directed by Pat Collins and executive-produced by Cormac Hargaden.

Commissioned by RTÉ, the film followed the fortunes of legendary manager Paidi O Sé and the Westmeath Gaelic Football team – who play in maroon colours - as they bonded together to win the Championship for the first time in the team’s history.

Boasting unprecedented behind the scenes access, it documented the passion that fuelled the football year - from the painful sacrifice of the January rain to one glorious moment in the Midsummer sun.

Marooned also captured a top prize at this year’s Celtic Film and Television Awards in Cardiff and follows IFTA awards for previous Motive productions The Rod Squad and Breaking Ball.

Motive was also nominated in the Sports Feature category of the IFTAs for Coach, a film commissioned by ARTE in Germany, which followed two inner city New York high school coaches over the course of a year.
